There’s an advantage to being small and scrappy!

Small startups may lack brand awareness. But they can often make up for it by being agile—being willing to change direction quickly and go after opportunities that larger companies miss.

Tyler Burch and I talked about how he and the team at BoardActive were able to compete with much bigger brands.

  1. They leveraged the reputation they earned from their IP.
  2. They used their size to move fast, test, find out what worked, and then double down.
  3. They launched a private beta program to learn which types of customers would be the best fit for their product.
