Focus on a Single Channel

Is your marketing team super small (or just one person)?

When you’re trying to do everything on your own, how do you find the time to keep up a meaningful presence on multiple social media channels?

Stewart Hillhouse focused on building his audience on LinkedIn for about eight months. Then he tried to add Twitter to the mix.

The result?

“I don’t think I do either very well right now.”

“It’ll take an extra eight minutes to reformat a LinkedIn post and put it on Twitter. But it’s still not the same, because I’m not mentally in Twitter mode. I’m not running experiments on Twitter. I’m just posting.

Whereas LinkedIn, I would get a feel for what time of day I should post, who I should engage with — those kinds of growth tactics that actually move the needle.”
